Mother Dance March - '98

Small toes bruise my knees
Tangled together we sleep
Seed and husk.

Until star fish fists climb my hair

And monkey grasp pinches the back of my hand.

Love bites my fingers with two new teeth.

I am here for you to push against,
Sometimes shattering as you grow

Breaking my shell

Excavating dawn

To the tune of wonder hatching.
